Why We’re Creating a New Director’s Cut
In 2019, The Flanagan Experiments premiered in Sedona and introduced audiences to the remarkable life, ideas, and scientific explorations of Dr. Patrick Flanagan. Since Patrick’s passing, the film has taken on even deeper meaning. It is no longer simply a documentary release. It is part of the historical record of his life and work.
A little over a month ago, harsh reality barged back in. Many of us in the arts and the conscious community who still follow the daily news saw reports that Deepak Chopra’s name appeared in the Epstein files — more than 3,000 times.
As admirers of Deepak’s work going all the way back to the 1980s, the news landed hard. Despite Deepak’s denial of any wrongdoing, we decided to remove his 2013 interview about Dr. Flanagan from the film.
The new version removes Deepak’s interview entirely, with the blessing of Patrick’s wife and partner Stephanie Sutton. At the same time, we’re taking advantage of something that didn’t exist when I first cut the film: modern visual tools that allow us to bring Patrick’s extraordinary ideas to life in ways we could only dream about back in 2019. This new cut is being created to preserve clarity, protect the integrity of the film, and keep the focus where it belongs: on Dr. Flanagan. And that’s how the 2026 Director’s Cut of The Flanagan Experiments was born. New intro teaser below.
