Scientific Legacy • Innovation • Documentary Film
Patrick Flanagan was one of the most unusual inventors of the modern era. Known first for inventing the Neurophone as a teenager and later for his work exploring hydration science, sacred geometry, and unconventional research pathways, he inspired generations of readers, researchers, and experimenters.

The Flanagan Experiments
Documentary Film Project
Filmmaker Ken Sheetz’s friendship with Patrick Flanagan began while in Sedona, AZ prepping for Antarctica and the film that became The Coolest Meditation Ever Project. Together Pat and Ken filmed a 50-episode YouTube interview series, The Flanagan Experiments, that introduced us to Patrick not only as an inventor but as a generous teacher and deeply thoughtful leader in alternative health with inspired fans across the planet. That collaboration led to the NEO Neurophone project produced by Ken Sheetz and eventually to the documentary film The Flanagan Experiments, co-produced by Elizabeth England and Ken Sheetz, premiered at the Sedona International Film Festival. Through those years of collaboration and personal friendship, our own health and lives were profoundly improved through the technologies and ideas Patrick devoted his life to exploring. The documentary film The Flanagan Experiments captures many of Patrick’s ideas, demonstrations, and personal reflections recorded during years of collaboration with filmmaker Ken Sheetz. Through interviews and archival footage, the film preserves a vivid portrait of a man whose curiosity and enthusiasm for discovery inspired thousands of admirers around the world.
A Legacy of Invention and Inquiry
The Neurophone
Invented by Patrick Flanagan in 1958 when he was still a teenager, the Neurophone became his most famous invention and the breakthrough that brought him national attention. The device was later patented in 1968 and explored the ability to transmit sound through the skin directly to the brain rather than through conventional hearing pathways. The invention led to Patrick’s early recognition in LIFE Magazine and established his reputation as a young scientific prodigy.
Pyramid Power
Flanagan’s bestselling book Pyramid Power helped introduce a wide audience to the ideas of sacred geometry and energetic form. The success of the book allowed him to continue pursuing independent research and experimental work for decades. Pyramid Power is said to have launched a world-wide fascination with pyramids and the energy fields created by their sacred geometry that continues through the present.
Hunza Water & Crystal Energy
He worked with Dr. Henri Coanda, whose ground-breaking work in fluid dynamics was renowned. They held mutual interest in the HUNZA water’s ability to sustain health and improve cellular nutrient uptake and availability. Flanagan spent decades studying unusual mineral and hydration phenomena inspired in part by the legendary Hunza water of northern Pakistan. His research explored mineral colloids and water structure and ultimately contributed to the development of Crystal Energy products produced through PhiSciences.
MegaHydrate & Microcluster Technology
Among the discoveries Patrick was most proud of was MegaHydrate, a formulation associated with his research into hydrogen chemistry and Flanagan Microcluster Technology. These concepts explored oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), hydration, and antioxidant processes in biological systems.
Sensor V
Later in life, Patrick explored sacred geometry through wearable design objects including the striking Sensor V pendant — a Fibonacci-inspired five-sided pyramid form that reflected his lifelong fascination with symmetry, energy, and mathematical beauty and the energy fields generated by form and sound.
